NAME

arch - print machine hardware name (same as uname -m)

SYNOPSIS

arch [OPTION]...

DESCRIPTION

Display the architecture of the current host 

OPTIONS

TAG DESCRIPTION
--help display this help and exit
--version output version information and exit

EXAMPLES

Example-1:

Displays the architecture of the current host. For example, arch may display 'sun4' for a Sun Solaris machine or 'x86_64' for the x86 64-bit architecture.

#arch

output:
x86_64


Example-2:

Similarly uname -m gives the same output

#uname -m

output:
x86_64

Example-3:

For a Sun solaris machione the output of arch will be "sun4"

Example-4:

To check output version information. 

#arch --v

output:
arch (GNU coreutils) 8.21
