  • Open the Settings app and tap on WiFi.
  • Connect to a WiFi network for configuring a proxy.
  • Tap on the i icon at the side of the wifi name.
  • Tap on HTTP proxy. It has three options −
    • Off is a by default setting, which means your device has no proxy configured.
    • Manual is a setting that allows you to manually configure your proxy by adding these details manually.
      • Here, you will be adding details of your proxy service. The server address and port number are needed to be entered. Sometimes an authentication might need you to put an ID and password.
    • Auto proxy setting allows you to set the proxy automatically by the service provider.
      • Just enter the URL of the proxy setting that is provided by your proxy service. This will be shown after you tap on the Automatic.

On configuring your proxy using the above method, you are masked from external traffic, making your browsing more secure.

Private Browsing on iPhone

Adding one more layer to your data security is by using private browsing on your iPhones web browser, may it be Google Chrome, Safari, or any other of your choice −

1. Private Browing on Google Chrome

On Google Chrome > Tap on the icon count > tap on the hidden icon.

2. Private Browing on Safari

Open Safari, and click on the multiple-tab icon in the bottom-right of the window. Tap on Private > tap on the plus icon.
