  • Maharashtra Agriculture Minister and senior BJP leader Pandurang Phundkar passed away at the age of 67 years.

  • The Capella Hotel, a luxury resort on Singapore's Sentosa Island, was the venue for the June 12 summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

  • UP State cabinet has decided to declare Nagar Palika Vrindavan and Nagar Panchayats Barsana, Gokul, Govardhan, Nandgaon, Radhakund and Baldev as no liquor areas.

  • The UP State cabinet has given its nod to the Solid Waste Management policy, Animal Breeding Policy 2018 and Milk Policy 2018. Milk policy will be effective for five years.

  • The Union Government is planning to start an Agro Processing Financial Institution, which will be out by July 2018. It will be a Non-Banking Financial Institution that will exclusively fund food processing projects and create capacity building in the field of risk assessment and lending to food processing sector.

  • Last four years have witnessed 351% Mega increase in preservation and processing capacity of 15.94 lakh MT per annum created by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. 720% increase in Cold Storage capacity, 180% increase in the value of agro produce processed by the projects handled by the Ministry.

  • Under the new Scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana, 122 projects have been approved under three schemes viz. Agro Processing Clusters, Backward-Forward Linkage and Unit scheme leveraging an investment of Rs 2,300 crore. This is expected to generate direct and indirect employment of around 3.4 lakh persons.
