  • Prasanta Kumar Saikia Appointed as Chairperson of Lokayukta in Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Amit Agarwal (Former Amazon India head) has been appointed as new chairman of Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

  • Health insurer Max Bupa partnered with fintech platform MobiKwik to promote Micro health insurance products for MobiKwik customers.

  • Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra has been elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee.

  • Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe voted for restoring Russia’s voting rights, 5 years after they were revoked over its illegal annexation of Crimean Peninsula (in 2014).

  • Govt. appointed Arvind Kumar as Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) for 2 years, succeeding Rajiv Jain. Govt also appointed Samant Kumar Goel as Director of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), for 2 years, succeeding Anil K Dhasmana.

  • Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced an annual financial health assistance of Rs.5 lakh to loktantra senanis or their spouse for treatment at private / government hospitals. Loktantra Senanis are people who were jailed during 1975-1977 Emergency under preventive detention laws.

  • International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Proclaimed by United Nation General Assembly in December 1987 and Observed since 1989. 2019 Theme is Health for Justice. June 26 is also observed as International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

  • RBI advised all Scheduled Commercial Banks to adopt Education Loan Scheme, formulated by Indian Banks Association. It provisions Loan upto Rs 10 lakh for study in India, upto 20 lakh for study abroad and Collateral free loans upto 7.5 Lakh under Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Education Loans (CGFSEL). Repayment period of 15 years.

  • India cancelled $500 million arms deal with Israel for purchase of Spike anti-tank missiles from defence contractor Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, after DRDO claimed that it could deliver an alternative with a partnership with VEM technologies Ltd within two years.

  • Indian Coast Guard (ICG) will open a recruitment centre in Uttarakhand, as fifth ICG recruitment centre (Other 4 in Noida, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata).

  • India Signed a $147 Million Loan Agreement with World Bank for improving basic urban services in Jharkhand and improve management capacity of urban local bodies (ULBs) in State.

  • India signed $31.58 million Loan Agreement with World Bank Uttarakhand Public Financial Management Strengthening Project, that will help improve State’s ability to manage its Financial Systems and lead to Better Utilization of Development Resources.

  • National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) signed agreement with Telangana Government to offer payment options like UPI Collect Request, RuPay Debit and Credit Cards to users of ‘MeeSeva’ portal of Telangana Government. Meeseva offers 150 government services.

  • Unemployed youth having graduation degree will be given unemployment allowance by Rajasthan government. Male applicants will get Rs 3,000/month, while women and differently-abled will get Rs 3,500 / month under Chief Minister Yuva Sambal Yojana, applicable from February 2019. Applicants must be natives of Rajasthan and amount will be given for 2 years or until they get employed.

  • Government will set up 51 new incubators for startups in information and communications technology space across India as part of its Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (Tide) 2.0 scheme. Scheme has categorized selection of incubators into three categories: Group 1 Centre (G1C), G2C, and G3C.

  • Ireland Government will ban sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030, to combat greenhouse gas emissions and protect environment. This is one of 180 measures of Irish government published in its Climate Action Plan. Government would stop granting National Car Test (NCT) certificates to Petrol / Diesel vehicles by 2045.

  • As per Asian Development Bank (ADB) Report, Bangladesh emerged as fastest growing economy among 45 countries of Asia-Pacific region. In FY year 2018-19, Bangladesh attained growth rate of 7.9 %, as its fastest rate since 1974. It is predicted to be 8% in FY 2019-20.

  • India extended $15 Million financial support to Africann Nation Niger, for organising African Union (AU) summit in July 2019 in Niamey (Capital of Niger). The support extended by India was in response to a specific request by Niger government.

  • World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (WDCDD), proclaimed in Jan 1995 by United Nations General Assembly.

  • Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, and USA.

  • DRDO conducted First test of an indigenously developed Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha Coast. HSTDV is an unmanned scramjet demonstration aircraft, designed to cruise at Mach 6 speed with scramjet engine.

  • Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) partnered with French National Railways (SNCF) & AFD, to support Railway Station Development Program in India. France's AFD will provide financing up to €700,000 to French Railways (SNCF), to provide technical support to IRSDC, the station development arm of Indian Railways.

  • Chaukhandi Stupa, an ancient Buddhist site located in Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been declared as ‘protected area of national importance’ by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Chaukhandi StupaName is known as ‘Chaukhandi’ becaause of its four armed plan, originally constructed in 5th Century AD.
