Lookup and Reference - AREAS Function
Description
The AREAS function returns the number of areas in a reference. An area is a range of contiguous cells or a single cell.
Syntax
AREAS (reference)
Arguments

reference |
A standard Excel reference to a cell or range of cells OR A named range OR A list of references, separated by commas and surrounded by parentheses. Then, the list is taken as a single argument, and Microsoft Excel will not interpret the comma as a field separator. |

Example
In the example given below, two teams are selected (i.e. the Ranges are selected) and given the Name Team1 and Team 2. The Areas function returns 2 as there are two ranges in the selection.
