A wire is bent to form a square of side 15 cm. if this wire is reshaped to form a rectangle of length 20 cm, find the perimeter of the rectangle and breadth of the rectangle.

Given a wire bent in the form of a square of side 15 cm.

To find the breadth and perimeter of a rectangle formed by the same wire.

Solution:

The side of square = 15 cm

Perimeter of the square = $4\times side = 4\times 15 cm = 60 cm$

Length of rectangle = 2O cm

Perimeter of rectangle = $60 cm$

Perimeter of rectangle = $2(length + breadth) =60 cm$

= $2(20 cm + breadth) =60 cm$

=$40 cm + 2\times breadth = 60 cm$

$2\times breadth = 60 - 40 = 20 cm$

Perimeter of rectangle = $60 cm$

The breadth of rectangle = $\frac {20}{2} = 10 cm$
