The perimeter of a rectangle is equal to that of a square with side 12m. If the length of the rectangle is 10m. Find its breadth.

Given:

The perimeter of a rectangle is equal to that of a square of side 1$2$m.

The length of the rectangle is $10$m.

To FInd:

The breadth of the rectangle.

Solution:

Side of square (a) = $12$ m

Perimeter of square = $4 a$

$4 (12)  =  48$ m.

 Perimeter of square = 48 m.

Length of rectangle = 10 m

Breadth = ?

The perimeter of square =  Perimeter of the rectangle.

$48$  =  $2\times$ (length + breadth)

$48  =  2\times$ ($10$ + breadth)

$\frac{48}{2}$  =  (10 + breadth)

$24  =  10 +$ breadth

$24 - 10$  =   breadth

$14$  =   breadth

Therefore the breadth of the rectangle is $14$ m.
