A wire is bent to form a square of side 15cm. Ir the wire is reshaped to form a rectangle of length 20cm, find the perimeter of the rectangle and breadth of the rectangle

Given: A wire is bent to form a square of side 15cm the wire is reshaped to form a rectangle of length 20cm

To find: find the perimeter of the rectangle

Solution:

The wire is bent to square :

Side of a square  =  15 cm

Perimeter of square = 4  $\times$ side

                                     =  4  $\times$ 15

Perimeter of square = 60 cm

Same wire is reshaped to a rectangle, so the total length of wire does not change.

So, Length of wire  =   Perimeter of square = Perimeter of Rectangle.

      Perimeter of Rectangle. = 60 cm

Formula of  Perimeter of Rectangle = $2 (length + breadth)$

                   length  =  20 cm

Perimeter of Rectangle. = $2 (20 + breadth)$

60 =  $2 (20 + breadth)$

$2 (20 + breadth) = 60$

$ 20 + breadth $ =  $\frac{60}{2}$

$20 + breadth  = 30$

breadth  =  $30 - 20$

breadth  =  10 cm

Therefore the perimeter is 60cm and breadth is 10cm
