How to Allow Certain Users to Edit Cells Range in Excel?
A protected workbook is one that cannot be edited without authenticating the person who created it. But we can also allow certain users to edit cells in Excel without entering the password for the workbook. For allowing certain users to edit cell ranges in Excel, we can use a simple process, which is highlighted in this tutorial.
Allowing Certain Users to Edit Cells Range
Here, we will first protect the sheet and allow editing of the range. Let us see a simple process to know how we can allow certain users to edit cells in Excel.
Step 1
Let us consider a new Excel sheet, and before we allow certain users to edit cell ranges in Excel, we have to make sure that the sheet is not protected first.
Now, on the quick access toolbar, click the review menu and select Allow user to edit ranges; a pop-up window will appear, as shown in the figure below.

The pop-up will look like the image below.
Step 2
In the pop-up box, click on "New" and a new pop-up will be opened. Enter range 1 in the title box, then click on "Refers to cell" and select the cells that you want to allow access to, and finally, in the last text box, which is "Password," enter the password and remember it as shown in the below figure.

Now click on "Permission" to open a new pop-up window. Then click on Add, and again, a new pop-up window will be opened. Enter the user’s name of the person you want to grant permission to, and click on OK to see the permissions under the list.
If an error has occurred, then click on "Advanced," Select one of the names below, and then click on "Error."

After clicking on "Advanced," the pop-up window shown below will appear; select one of the options shown below.

We can see the new permission name in the below image.

Now click on "OK," then the pop-up will be closed, and again click on "OK" to confirm the password and click on "OK," then again click on "Protect sheet," and click on "OK" to close the pop-up and apply the protection.

The final Excel document will have allowed specific users to edit cells in the range.

Every time we want to edit the selected cells, we need to enter the password to unlock the sheet.
Conclusion
In this tutorial, we used a simple example to demonstrate how we can allow certain users to edit cell ranges in Excel to highlight a particular set of data.
