The perimeter of rectangular park is 450m. The length of the sides is in the ratio 3:2. Find the area of the rectangle.

Given :

The perimeter of the rectangular park is 450m.

The length of the sides is in the ratio 3:2.

To find :

We have to find the area of the rectangle.

Solution :

Let the length of the rectangle be $3x$ and the breadth of the rectangle be $2x$.

Perimeter of a rectangle $=$ 2 (length $+$ breadth)

This implies,

$450 = 2 (3x + 2x)$

$450 = 2 (5x)$

$450 = 10 x$

$x = \frac{450}{10}$

$x = 45$

Therefore,

Length $= 3 x = 3 (45) = 135\ m$

Breadth $= 2 x = 2 (45) = 90\ m$

Area of the rectangle $=$ Length $\times$ Breadth

$=135\times90\ m^2$

$=12150\ m^2$

The area of the rectangle is $12150\ m^2$.
