The length and breadth of a rectangular field are in the ratio of 3: 2. If the perimeter of the field is 80 m, find its breadth( in metres)

Given: The length and breadth of a rectangular field is in the ratio 3:2 The perimeter is 80m

To do: Find the breadth in meters

Solution:

Length and breadth are in the ratio of 3: 2

Let the length and breadth be $ 3x and 2x$

So, perimeter of rectangle = $2(l + b) = 80 m$

                                              = $2(3x + 2x) = 80$

or $2 \times  5x = 10x = 80 or x = 8$

So, length = $3x = 3(8) = 24$ m and breadth $= 2x = 2(8) = 16 m$

So, length = 24m and breadth = 16m
