The Academy was granted permission to have a number of territorial hubs and grounds as needed. The Academy was expected to have an infinite progression, a common seal, and the authority to contract, sue, and be sued while following the rules of this Act.

Objectives of the Academy

The objects of the Academy are as follows −

  • To disseminate advanced knowledge in science and technology by providing teaching and research facilities in such branches of learning as it deems appropriate, particularly in emerging and future areas;

  • To conduct multidisciplinary studies and research

  • To conduct and incorporate interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary courses in natural sciences, life sciences, mathematical and computational sciences, medical sciences, engineering, applied art, humanities, social sciences, and the law relating to these areas and their interfaces;

  • To adopt appropriate measures to promote innovation in the teaching and learning processes and

  • To promote research in science and technology that has an impact on people's social, economic, cultural, intellectual, and academic well-being.

Relationship of the Academy with the Research Council

As per the Section 5 of the Act, the academy will be given or permitted to use the conceptual framework and logical work of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for educational and research purposes and for mutual benefit. To establish a legal relationship, the Academy will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research within 14 days of the enactment of this Act, regardless of anything mentioned in any other Act, rules, guidelines, or bye-laws for the guidelines. For those pursuing investigations within the Council for the awarding of any degree or confirmation, as well as for education, the awarding of degrees or certificates.

After the signing of such a Memorandum of Understanding, the said Academy shall grant degrees or recognition pursuant thereto; provided, however, that any person seeking any academic or examination course before the commencement of this Act in the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for the purpose of awarding any degree or recognition and enrolled for the aforementioned reason with another college may, with the consent of the college with which such person is enrolled, transfer to another institution after the commencement thereof.

Furthermore, nothing in sub-section (1) or (2) is intended to influence the capacities or forces of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, which were released or worked out prior to the commencement of this Act by the Council or a subsidiary with the other college or organization for the requirements of scholastics, instructing, and the grant of degrees or confirmations, or for other purposes critical to pursuing its articles.
