The cost of carpeting a 15m long room with a 75 cm wide carpet at 9₹ per metre is 2160₹. find the breadth of the room .
Given :
Length of the room = 15 m
Width of the carpet = 75 cm = 0.75 m
Cost of carpeting per metre = Rs. 9
Total cost of carpeting = Rs. 2160
To find :
We have to find the Breadth of the room.
Solution :
Length of the carpet = Total cost/cost per m $= \frac{2160}{9}$ m = 240 m.
Area of the carpet $= 240 \times 0.75 = 180$ m2
Let the width of the room be w.
Area of the room $= 15 \times w = 15w$
Area of the carpet = Area of the room
15w = 180
w $= \frac{180}{15}$
w = 12 m.
The width of the room is 12 m.
