Length of the room = 50 m.
Cost of carpeting per metre = Rs. 9
Total cost of carpeting the room = Rs. 2160
To do:
We have to find the breadth of the room.
Solution:
Length of the carpet = $\frac{2160}{9}$ m = 240 m.
Length of the carpet = 240 m
Width of the carpet = 75 cm = 0.75 m (1 m = 100 cm)
Area of the carpet = Length of the carpet $\times$ Breadth of the carpet
= 240 $\times$ 0.75 m2= 180 m2
Area of the carpet = 180 sq.m.
Area of the carpet = Area of the room
Area of the room = Length of the room $\times$ Breadth of the room
Area of the room = 50 $\times$ Breadth
50 $\times$ Breadth = Area of the carpet
50 $\times$ Breadth = 180 m2
Breadth = $\frac{180}{50}$ m
The breadth of the room is 3.6 m.
