We have to find the area of the balcony and the cost of cementing the balcony.
Solution:
We know that,
The area of a rectangle of length $l$ and breadth $b$ is $lb$.
Therefore,
Area of the office room $=6\times4\ m^2=24\ m^2$.
Length of the room including the width of the balcony $=6+2=8\ m$.
Breadth of the room including the width of the balcony $=4+2=6\ m$.
Area of the room including balcony $=8\times6\ m^2=48\ m^2$.
This implies,
Area of the balcony $=$ Area of the room including balcony $-$ Area of the room excluding balcony
$=(48-24)\ m^2$
$=24\ m^2$
Cost of cementing $1\ m^2=Rs.\ 250$
Cost of cementing the balcony $=Rs.\ 250\times24$
$=Rs.\ 6000$
The total cost of cementing the balcony is Rs. 6000.
