An iron tank 30 m long, 10m wide and 8m deep is to be made from an iron sheet 4 m wide. If the tank is open from the top, find the cost of the iron sheet at the rate of 75 per square metre.
Given:
Length of the tank $=30\ m$.
Breadth of the tank $=10\ m$.
Depth(height) of the tank $=8\ m$.
To do:
We have to find the cost of sheet for it, if a sheet measuring \( 1 \mathrm{~m}^{2} \) costs Rs. 75.
Solution:
Area of the sheet required $=2lb+2bh+2lh−lb$ (It is open at the top)
$=lb+2lh+2bh$
$=(30\times10)+2(10\times8)+2(8\times30)$
$=(300+160+480)$
$=940\ m^2$
Cost of the sheet per square metre$= Rs.\ 75$.
Cost of sheet of $940\ m^2 = Rs.\ 75\times940$
$=Rs.\ 70500$.
