Wearing purple on International Women's day has some history which dates back to 1900s.

The combination of purple, green and white were selected to symbolize women's equality originated from the Women’s Social and Political Union in the UK in 1908. Green symbolizes hope and white represents purity.

Purple which was selected as this year's color signifies justice and dignity. Purple with yellow signifies progressive contemporary feminism.
