Psychology and Artificial Intelligence

Emotion and Sentiment Analysis
Emotion and sentiment analysis is a field where psychology and artificial intelligence mix. Emotions are important in human communication and decision- making, and knowing and interpreting emotions is a requirement for AI systems that interact with humans. Psychologists investigate the intricacies of emotions, facial expressions, verbal intonation, and body language, providing useful insights to AI researchers.
Natural language processing and computer vision, for example, enable the study of textual and visual data to discover and understand emotional indicators. AI algorithms can learn to recognise patterns associated with various emotions and feelings by training them on massive amounts of labelled data. Psychologists help by offering a fundamental understanding of human emotions and their expressions.
