Solution: we know that a dice has six sides with number 1 to 6.

And when a dice is thrown there are 6 possible outcomes and when two dice are thrown together there are $6x6 =36$ possible outcomes.

And here our favourable outcomes are, {$( 1,\ 1) ,\ ( 2,\ 2) ,\ ( 3,\ 3) ,\ ( 4,\ 4) ,\ ( 5,\ 5) ,\ ( 6,\ 6)$}

probability of getting the same number on both dice$=\frac{no.of favourable outcomes}{total possible outcomes}$

$=\frac{6}{36}$

$=\frac{1}{6}$

$\therefore$ Option $( C)$ is correct.
