Simplify $ (\frac{1}{2})^{4} \div(\frac{-1}{2})^{3} $ is equals to
(a.) $\frac{-1}{2}$
(b.) $\frac{1}{2}$
(d.) 0
Given:
\( (\frac{1}{2})^{4} \div(\frac{-1}{2})^{3} \)
To do:
We have to simplify the given expression.
Solution:
We know that,
$a^m\div a^n=a^{m-n}$
$(-a)^m=(-1)^m \times (a)^m$
Therefore,
\( (\frac{1}{2})^{4} \div(\frac{-1}{2})^{3} \)$=(\frac{1}{2})^{4} \div(-1)^3(\frac{1}{2})^{3}$
$=-(\frac{1}{2})^{4} \div(\frac{1}{2})^{3}$
$=-(\frac{1}{2})^{4-3}$
$=-(\frac{1}{2})^{1}$
$=-\frac{1}{2}$.
The value of the given expression is $-\frac{1}{2}$.
