The floor of a bathroom is 500 cm long and 350 cm wide. It is to be completely paved by square tiles of side 25cm. Find the cost of the tiles at the rate of ₹60 per tile.

Given :

Length of the bathroom $=$ 500 cm.

The breadth of the bathroom $=$ 350 cm.

Side of square tile $=$ 25 cm.

Cost of a tile $=$ Rs.60.

To do :

We have to find the total cost of tiles.

Solution :

We know that,

$$Area of the rectangle = Length \times Breadth$$

$$Area of square = side \times side$$

Area of the bathroom $= 500 \times 350$

Area of a tile $=25 \times 25$

$Number of tiles required = \frac{Area of the bathroom}{Area of a square tile}$

                                           $= \frac{ 500 \times 350}{25 \times 25}$

                                           $ = 280$.

The total cost of tiles required $=$ Number of tiles required $\times$ Cost of a tile

                                                       $ = 280 \times 60$

                                                       $ = 16800$

Therefore, the total cost of ties required to be paved in the bathroom is 16800.
