Solve for $y$$35-5(y-4)=5$

Given: The equation is

$35-5(y-4)=5$

To do:  Find the value of $y$

Solution:

$35  -  5(y - 4)  =  5$

$35  -5 y  + 20  =  5$

$35 + 20 - 5 y  =  5$

$55 - 5 y  =  5$

$- 5 y  =  5  -  55$

$-5 y  =  -55 + 5$

$-5 y  =  -50$

$y  =  \frac{-50}{ -5}$

$y = 10$

Therefore the value of $y \ is \ 5$
