According to the International Publishers Association, China and America publish almost half of the books published in the world every year. In the year 2015-16, about 16 lakh books came out in the market and half of them (about 8 lakh) was published by only China and America. China alone published 4.70 lakh books while the number of books published by America was 3.39 lakh. Britain got the third spot by publishing 1.73 lakh books. France and Germany got the fourth and the fifth spots by publishing 1.06 lakh and 0.89 lakh books respectively in the year 2015-16.
