The dimensions of a classroom are 10m, 8m and 5m. Find the cost of decorating its walls by a wallpaper of 1 m width, which costs 50 rupees for 1 sq.m.
Given:
The dimensions of a classroom are 10 m, 8 m and 5 m.
Width of the wallpaper $=1\ m$.
Cost of decorating per 1 sq. m.$=Rs.\ 50$.
To do:
We have to find the cost of decorating its walls.
Solution:
We know that, lateral surface area of a cuboid of length $l$, breadth $b$ and height $h$ is $2h(l+b)$.
Therefore,
Lateral surface area of the classroom $=2\times5(10+8)\ m^2$
$=10\times18\ m^2$
$=180\ m^2$
Cost of decorating per 1 sq. m.$=Rs.\ 50$.
This implies,
Cost of decorating the walls of the classroom $=Rs.\ 50\times180\ m^2$
$=Rs.\ 9000$
The cost of decorating of the walls of the classroom is Rs. 9000.
