The length and breadth of a wall is 10m,15m respectively. a window is fitted in the wall of side 5m . If the cost of whitewashing the wall is rupees 5625 , find the cost of whitewashing per meter.


Given:

The length and breadth of a wall is 10m,15m respectively.

 A window is fitted in the wall of side 5m 

The cost of whitewashing the wall is Rs 5625


To do: Find the cost of whitewashing per meter

Solution:

The wall is rectangular in shape; length L = 10m; Breadth = 15m

Area of wall = $10 \times 15$ = 150 sq m

Assuming square window of side 5 m; Area of window = $5 \times 5$ = 25 sq m

Area of wall painted = $150 - 25 = 125$ sq m

Cost of whitewashing = Rs $5625$

Therefore, rate of whitewashing = $\frac{5625}{125}= Rs 45$ per sq m
