We have to find the mean of the given frequency distribution.

Solution:

Let the assumed mean be $A=20$

 We know that,

Mean $=A+\frac{\sum{f_id_i}}{\sum{f_i}}$    

Therefore,  

Mean $=20+(\frac{-72}{20})$

$=20-3.6$

$=16.4$

The mean of the given frequency distribution is $16.4$.
