Solution:

Using Euclid's division algorithm to find HCF:

Using Euclid’s lemma to get:

• $24\ =\ 18\ \times\ 1\ +\ 6$

Now, consider the divisor 18 and the remainder 6, and apply the division lemma to get:

• $18\ =\ 6\ \times\ 3\ +\ 0$

The remainder has become zero, and we cannot proceed any further. 

Therefore the HCF of 24 and 18 is the divisor at this stage, i.e., 6.

So, HCF of 18 and 24 is 6.
