Add the following :$\frac{-9}{24} + \frac{-1}{18}$

Given :

The given expression is $\frac{-9}{24} + \frac{-1}{18}$

To do :

We have to add the given terms and find the value.

Solution :

We know that,

$(+) \times (-) = (-)$

LCM of 24 and 18 is,

$24 = 2\times2\times2\times3$

$18 = 2\times3\times3$

LCM of 24 and 18 $= 2\times2\times2\times3\times3 = 72$.

$\frac{-9}{24} + \frac{-1}{18} =\frac{-9}{24} - \frac{1}{18}$

                               $= \frac{(-9\times3-1\times4)}{72}$

                               $= \frac{(-27-4)}{72}$

                               $= \frac{-31}{72}$.

The value of $\frac{-9}{24} + \frac{-1}{18}$ is  $\frac{-31}{72}$.
