What Is Adenocarcinoma? Types Causes and Treatment
Adenocarcinoma is one type of cancer that can develop anywhere in the body. This problem mainly arises in the glands which exist inside the organs. Adenocarcinoma primarily begins in the epithelial cells, which exist inside the linings like skin, mucous membranes, etc. As per doctors, Adenocarcinoma is a subtype of carcinoma. Once individuals suffer from Adenocarcinoma, the survival rate depends on the location of the tumor and its size.

Types of Adenocarcinoma
It has been noticed that Adenocarcinoma originates in glands, but it can spread to other parts of the body over time. Individuals can suffer from different types of this cancer, so it is always an excellent option to understand them.
Lung
Almost 40% of lung cancer are lung adenocarcinoma. As per experts, this cancer mainly develops in young mucus-secreting cells.
Breast
As per doctors, almost all breast cancers are known as Adenocarcinoma. This cancer develops in the glands that yield milk.
Prostate
Like Breast cancer, all prostate cancers also come within Adenocarcinoma. This cancer also develops in the cells of the prostate glands.
Pancreas
Pancreas cancer develops inside the pancreas ducts. Exocrine pancreatic cancer is normally known as Adenocarcinoma.
Cancer in Esophagus
Adenocarcinoma esophagus cancer primarily develops in the epithelial cells. As per experts, this cancer type is the most common.
Stomach
It has been noticed that almost 90 percent of stomach cancer is Adenocarcinoma. Stomach cancer is also known as gastric cancer.
All the above types of Adenocarcinoma can develop in any area of the human body.
Causes of Multiple Types of Adenocarcinoma
Several causes are responsible for adenocarcinoma (cancer). Researchers are still to find the exact reasons for many such cases. However, there are several risk factors due to which individuals can suffer from Adenocarcinoma.
Individuals commonly suffer from lung adenocarcinoma due to excessive smoking or tobacco use. It has also been noticed that passive smokers also suffer from this problem. Again, people who are more exposed to chemicals or harmful toxins can also suffer from Lung adenocarcinoma. Again, patients who have already undergone radiation therapy can also have lung cancer.
Women can have breast cancer due to several causes. According to specialists, age is the prime risk factor for breast cancer. However, sometimes family history can also lead to the development of breast cancer in women. In addition, women who have undergone hormone therapy treatment can also have breast cancer.
Prostate cancer can also develop in men over 50 years of age. As per research, it has been noticed that prostate cancer is more common in Caribbean or African American men. It has also been seen that people who reside in North America or Australia are more prone to suffer from prostate cancer. Sometimes, genetics also play a vital role in prostate cancer.
Pancreas adenocarcinoma can develop due to several causes like excess smoking, obesity, exposure to life-threatening chemicals, age, etc. Hence, individuals need to be aware of the risk factors which can develop pancreas cancer.
Colon cancer or Adenocarcinoma can get developed due to several factors. Individuals highly attracted to eating processed meat, smoking, and consuming alcohol regularly can suffer from colon cancer. Again, persons who have type 2 diabetes and severe bowel problem can also have colon cancer.
People can face the risk of brain adenocarcinoma due to family history or having radiation therapy to the brain to treat other diseases.
Different Stages
Doctors recommend diagnosis and treatment options for Adenocarcinoma, depending on the stages of the disease. Stage 0 is when the cancer cells have not attacked the local tissues or cells. At stage 1, cancer starts growing but not deeply into the nearby cells. Stage 2 & 3 is where cancer cells grow deep inside the adjacent tissues. Stage 4 is the advanced stage when Adenocarcinoma develops metastatic.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Doctors recommend several diagnosis methods before they initiate the treatment of Adenocarcinoma. Doctors recommend the following diagnosis methods to detect the disease.
Biopsy and its’ types
Many get afraid that having a biopsy means they have cancer. However, a biopsy helps healthcare providers to assess whether there is any sign of damaged cells or tissues. Bone Marrow biopsy is done under local anesthesia, and here, the sample of the bone marrow tissue is taken.
The next one is Endoscopic biopsy, where a flexible tube is inserted inside the human body to take images of different locations like the lungs, bladder, etc. Another biopsy type is needle biopsy, where needles are used to check the situation of the tumor on the skin. Finally, a skin biopsy helps detect the conditions of the skin.
Tissue Examination
Professional pathologists do tissue examinations. The professionals review the biopsy samples and can check whether there is any possibility of Adenocarcinoma or not.
Treatment Options
Once experts diagnose that any person is suffering from Adenocarcinoma, they recommend different treatment options for Adenocarcinoma. This treatment mainly depends on the type and stage of cancer. Let’s check other treatment options to treat Adenocarcinoma.
Chemotherapy − It is the most popular treatment option for Adenocarcinoma is chemotherapy. It is a drug treatment that will eliminate rapidly growing cancer tissues and cells.
Radiation Therapy − This treatment helps to kill cancer cells. In addition, doctors often recommend palliative therapy, which helps to reduce cancer symptoms and give patients a relived life.
Surgical treatment − Once doctors feel that the above therapies will not work, they recommend surgical treatment. Normally this surgical treatment is minimally invasive to operate the tumor.
Immunotherapy − It is the treatment option where drugs are used so that the immune system can fight cancer. Doctors recommend two types of Immunotherapy Passive Immunotherapy and Hormonal Immunotherapy
Hormonal Therapy − This therapy is mainly applied to breast and prostate adenocarcinoma patients. This therapy is used to reduce the tumor size before the surgery.
Hormone therapy is applied if the hormone receptors are involved. Hormone therapy for prostate cancer lowers the androgen levels in the human body. Doctors also use drugs that lower the production of testosterone in the testicles.
Conclusion
Adenocarcinoma is a situation that affects glandular tissues and other body parts like the lungs, breast, colon, prostate, etc. Doctors are still trying to detect natural causes of Adenocarcinoma, but readers can get probable causes for Adenocarcinoma from the above details.
