What Is The Difference Between Rate Of Percolation And Amount Of Water Retained ??
Dear Ria,
Percolation rate is the rate of movement of fluid through any porous material. It is the amount of water percolated, per unit time through soil.
Absorption Rate is the rate at which any molecule/ ion/ particle enter into some bulk phase like gas, solid, or liquid. It is the amount of water absorbed by soil.
Therefore, when little water is poured over soil, some water will be absorbed and some will percolate through soil.
