Two containers have 625 l and 850 l of diesel. Find the maximum capacity of a vessel which can measure the diesel in two containers, the exact number of times.
Given :
The capacity of two containers of diesel is 625 L and 850 L.
To do :
We have to find the maximum capacity of a vessel which can measure the diesel in two containers the exact number of times.
Solution :
The maximum capacity of the vessel is the HCF of 625 and 850.
Prime factorisation of 625 and 850 is,
$625 = 5 \times 5 \times 5 \times 5$
$850 = 2 \times 5 \times 5 \times 17$
HCF of 625 and 850 $= 5\times5 = 25$.
The maximum capacity of a vessel which can measure the diesel in two containers the exact number of times is 25 L.
