The HCF of two numbers is 4 and their L C M is 168 . If the first number is 12 . find the other number.

Given:

HCF  of two numbers  =  4

LCM  of  two  numbers  =  168

To do: Find the other number

Solution:

First number  =  12

other number  =  $x$

Product of two numbers  =  LCM  $\times$   HCF

$x \times  12   =    LCM  \times   HCF$

$  x   \times   12   =  168  \times  4$

$  x  \times  12   =  672$

$  x   =   \frac{672 }{ 12}   =  56$

$ x  =  56$

Therefore the other number is 56
