Simplify the following:$2 - \frac{3}{5}$


Given :

The given expression is $2 - \frac{3}{5}$.

To do :

We have to simplify the given expression.

Solution :

2 can be written as $\frac{2}{1}$

Therefore,

$2 - \frac{3}{5} =\frac{2}{1} - \frac{3}{5}$

            $ = \frac{(5\times2-1\times3)}{5}$            (LCM of 1 and 5 is 5)

             

            $= \frac{(10-3)}{5}$

             $= \frac{7}{5}$

The simplified form of $2 - \frac{3}{5}$ is   $\frac{7}{5}$
