Remove the brackets and simplify if possible.
1. $8 + (a-2)$ 2. $5+ (a-2)$

Given :
The given expressions are   1. $8 + (a-2)$                      2. $5+ (a-2)$
To do :
We have to simplify the given expressions
Solution :

1.  $8 + (a -2) =  8 + a -2$

Regrouping 'Like Terms' 8 and $-2 = 8-2 + a = 6 + a$

2.  $ 5 + 2(a-2) = 5 + 2a +2\times(-2) = 5 + 2a -4$

Regrouping 'Like Terms' $= 5-4 + 2a = 1 + 2a$

The simplified value of   $8 + (a -2)$ is  $6 + a$

The simplified value of  $ 5 + 2(a-2)$ is $1 + 2a$
