Explain the term: Heating effect of electric current.

Electric current can produce heat when it passes through a resistor.

When an electric current is passed through a high resistance wire like nichrome, the electrical energy is converted into heat energy. This is called the heating effects of electric current.

There are many such other devices that work on the heating effects of electric current. For example: Electric Iron, Electric Heater etc.
