A man buys 13.23 kg of one tupe of rice for ₹30 per kg and 15.45 kg of another type of rice for ₹ 67.99 per kg. If he mixes them and makes packets each containing 3450 g of rice, how many such packets of rice are there and what is the cost of each packet?
Given: Weight of type 1 rice = 13.23 kg
Weight of type 2 rice = 15.45 kg
To find: We have to find the number of packets and the cost of each packet.
Solution:
Total price of type 1 rice = 13.23 x 30 = 396.90 Rs.
Total price of type 2 rice = 15.45 x 67.99 = 1,050.4455 Rs.
Total weight of rice after mixing type 1 and type 2 rice = 13.23 + 15.45 = 28.68 kg
Now to make packets of mix rice each containing 3450 g or 3.45 kg of rice we have to divide total weight by weight of each packet.
Number of packets =
So, 8 packets can be packed weighing exactly 3.45 kg.
Now price of each packet can be calculated by dividing total price by number of packets.
Total price of type 1 and type 2 rice = Price of type 1 rice + Price of type 1 rice = 396.90 + 1050.4455 = 1447.3455 Rs.
Price of each packet =
