1. Sonu buys 40 kg of wheat at Rs 12.50 per kg and 30 kg of wheat at Rs 14 per kg. At what rate per kg should he sell the mixture to gain 5% on the whole?2. Wasim bought two cricket bats for Rs. 840 and Rs. 360 respectively. He sells the first bat at a gain of 15% and the second one at a loss of 5%. Find his gain or loss per cent in the whole transaction.

1) Given: Sonu buys $40$ kg of wheat at Rs $12.50$ per kg and $30$ kg of wheat at Rs $14$ per kg.

To find: We have to find at what rate per kg should sonu sell the mixture to gain 5% on the whole.

Solution:

Weight of wheat 1 bought = $40$ kg

CP of wheat 1 per kg = Rs $12.50$

Weight of wheat 2 bought = $30$ kg

CP of wheat 1 per kg = Rs $14$

Total cost price of $40 + 30$ or 70 kg wheat

= $40(12.50) + 30(14)$ = $Rs 500 + Rs420 = Rs 920$

Profit per cent = 5%

SP = $\frac{CP(100 + Profit%)}{100}$

      =$ \frac{920 \times (100 + 5)}{100} = 920 \times 1.05 = Rs966$

SP per kg = $\frac{966}{70} = Rs13.80$ . So, he should sell at this rate

2) Given: Wasim bought two cricket bats for Rs. 840 and Rs. 360 respectively

 He sells the first bat at a gain of 15% and the second one at a loss of 5%

To find: We have to find the gain or loss percent in the whole transaction.

Solution:

CP of first bat = 840; Profit % = 15 So SP of first bat = 840 $\times \frac{115}{100}$ = Rs 966

CP of second bat =  360 Loss% = 5 So SP of second bat = 360 $\times \frac{95}{100}$ = Rs $342$

Total CP of two bats = $840 + 360 = Rs 1200$

Total SP of two bats = $966 + 342 = 1308$

Profit = $1308 - 1200 = 108$

SP > CP so there is profit  % profit = 100 $\times \frac{108}{1200}$ = 9%
