A glass rod is rubbed against a silk cloth. Which object get charged in this process?

To find out which substance gains electrons and become negatively charged and which loses to become positively charged, there is a list known as the triboelectric series.

Triboelectric series is a list that ranks materials according to their tendency to gain or lose electrons. The process of electron transfer as a result of two objects coming into contact with one another and then separating is called triboelectric charging.

In another way, you can do an activity to find out, which object is positively charged and which is negatively charged, if one of the objects is known to be positive or negative according to the triboelectric series.

So, rubbing a glass rod with a silk cloth made positive charges because according to the triboelectric series glass acquires a more positive charge in comparison to silk cloth. Therefore, glass acquires a positive charge, while silk cloth acquires a negative charge.
