In a year, Seema earns $Rs.\ 1,50,000$ and saves $Rs.\ 50,000$. Find the ratio of(a) Money that Seema earns to the money she saves.(b) Money that she saves to the money she spends.
Given:
In a year, Seema earns $Rs. 1,50,000$ and saves $Rs. 50,000$.
To do:
We have to find the ratio of:
(a) Money that Seema earns to the money she saves.
(b) Money that she saves from the money she spends.
Solution:
(a) The ratio of money earned to the money saved can be obtained by dividing the money earned by the money saved $= \frac{150000\ Rs}{50000\ Rs}$
$=3 : 1$
The ratio of money earned to the money saved is $3 : 1$.
(b) The ratio of the money that she saves to the money she spends can be obtained by dividing the money saved by the money spent.
The money spent by Seema can be obtained by subtracting the money saved from money earned by Seema $=Rs.\ 150000 - Rs.\ 50000.$
$=Rs.\ 100000$
Therefore,
The ratio of the money that she saves to the money she spends $=\frac{Rs.\ 50000}{Rs.\ 100000}$
$=1 : 2$
The ratio of the Money that she saves to the money she spends is $1 : 2$.
