In a college, out of 4320 students, 2300 are girls. Find the ratio of
(a) Number of girls to the total number of students.
(b) Number of boys to the number of girls.
(c) Number of boys to the total number of students.

Given:

In a college, there are 2300 girls out of 4320 students.

To do:

We have to find the ratio of

(a) Number of girls to the total number of students.

(b) Number of boys to the number of girls.

(c) Number of boys to the total number of students.

Solution:

The total number of students in the college $=4320$

Number of girls in the college $=2300$

(a) The ratio of number of girls to the total number of students$=\frac{2300}{4320}$

$=\frac{2\times2\times5\times115}{2\times2\times5\times216}$

$=\frac{115}{216}$

The ratio of the number of girls to the total number of students is $115 : 216$.

(b) We get,

The number of boys by subtracting the number of girls from the total number of students $=4320-2300$

$=2020$

The ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls $=\frac{2020}{2300}$

$=\frac{2\times2\times5\times101}{2\times2\times5\times115}$

$=\frac{101}{115}$

The ratio of the number of girls to the total number of students is $101 : 115$.

(c) The ratio of the number of boys to the total number of students $ =\frac{2020}{4320}$

$=\frac{2\times2\times5\times101}{2\times2\times5\times216}$

$=\frac{101}{216}$

The ratio of the number of boys to the total number of students is $=101 : 216$.
