In a class of 30 students, the number of girls is one-fifth of the number of boys. How many boys are there in the class?
Given :
Number of students in a class $= 30$
The number of girls is one-fifth of the number of boys.
To do :
We have to find the number of boys.
Solution :
Let the number of boys be 'x'.
The number of girls is one-fifth of the number of boys.
So, the Number of girls $=\frac{1}{5} x$
Number of students in a class $= 30$
$x + \frac{1}{5} x = 30$
$\frac{5x+1x}{5} = 30$
$\frac{6x}{5} = 30$
$6x = 30 \times 5$
$x = \frac{30 \times 5}{6}$
$x = 5 \times 5$
$x = 25$
Therefore, the number of boys in the class is 25.
