What are Muscles?

  • Energy Storage − Fat serves as the body's main energy storage medium. Triglycerides kept in fat cells are broken down and transformed into useful energy when the body needs it.

  • Insulation − Fat functions as an insulator, assisting in temperature control and maintaining bodily warmth.

  • Protection − Fat acts as a cushion to shield sensitive tissues and important organs from harm.

  • Hormone Production − Hormones that control metabolism, hunger, and other physiological processes are produced by fat cells.

While fat is necessary for the body to operate, having too much body fat can be harmful to your health. The chance of developing these medical disorders can be decreased by maintaining a healthy body weight with a balanced diet and frequent exercise.

Does Muscle Weigh More Than Fat?

Like all other tissues and substances in the body, muscle tissue has a weight. Muscle tissue is actually heavier and denser than fat tissue. The weight of one pound of muscle is equal to that of one pound of fat or any other substance, or 0.45 kg.
