Converting a Fraction with a Denominator of 100 to a Percentage

Percent means over 100 or out of 100. For example, 50 per cent written with the per cent symbol %, 50% is equal to 50 over 100 or $\frac{50}{100}$.

50% = $\frac{50}{100}$

Formula

So, any fraction with a denominator of 100 can be written down as a percentage as follows

As we have seen above, $\frac{50}{100}$ = 50%

Similarly, $\frac{8}{100}$ = 8%; $\frac{10}{100}$ = 10%; $\frac{24}{100}$ = 24% and so on

So, for any number x, $\frac{x}{100}$ = x%

Convert the following fraction to a per cent −
