In my opinion, it all depends on various factors viz.what kind of reader you are, what are your interests, etc. For instance, if you are a scholarly reader, who does not enjoy any surplusage and only wants to read the true essence of information, The Hindu will please you more than The Times of India.
While The Hindu and The Times of India both cover, sports, politics, entertainment, technology related articles; still both of these newspapers vary in the emphasis that has been laid upon these different articles. For example, you will find The Hindu somewhat more centered around themes and subject matter which is both considered a bore by many. In The Times of India on the contrary, you will relish the second page itself which has riddles, puzzles, cartoon sketches and caricatures.
Since every person has more or less different choices, the better out of these newspapers will depend on the preference of an individual.
