What is Anxiety Neurosis and how to overcome it?
Anxiety Neurosis is the term used to describe a mild mental illness caused by stress. Anxiety is nothing but worry and is a way in which the brain alerts of impending danger or worrisome issue that imposes threat or loss. Anxiety Neurosis is a mental disorder which is characterized by symptoms like loss of interest in life.
Symptoms
Disturbed and disrupted sleep pattern.
Fatigue, dizziness and trembling.
Poor or low concentration.
Innate restlessness and irritability for no reason.
Excessive worry and panic attacks without any warning.
Persistent fear of the unknown danger or hypothetical problem.
Constant stress.
Loss of appetite and nausea.
Depression and fear of dying or going mad.
Loss of interest in sex and
Palpitations of the heart.
Causes
A traumatic experience from the past or an event that caused extreme stress and memories related to it can cause anxiety neurosis.
A serious health condition and prolonged medication with a 50% chance of cure can build stress and cause panic attacks.
Stress due to illness can trigger an anxiety disorder
Worry about the future can also cause anxiety neurosis
A bad financial condition can cause stress leading to neurosis
The family history of anxiety and stress or high blood pressure
The family history of depression
Fear of failure, loss or impending death
Treatment for anxiety neurosis
Anxiety neurosis is curable. Treatment of anxiety or panic attacks is possible in the following ways:
Exposure to sunlight for 15 mins daily gives the body vitamin D which gives stress relief.
A good walk in a garden or a 20 mins exercise can help in causing good blood flow and release of feel-good endorphins that can reduce anxiety.
The scent of lavender can relax taut nerves and reduce stress.
Drinking 2 or 3 cups of chamomile tea can cause a relaxing effect on the agonized brain.
1 to 3 gm of Omega 3 daily dose can help cure anxiety.
Adding L-lysine to the diet can help in relieving a person of panic attacks.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the effective treatment method used with the person affected by anxiety neurosis. Here the patient is made to identify the cause for his panic and stress and helped to overcome it.
Anxiety is just a symptom of yet some other problem or stress causing factor. The factor is identified and through counselling and other supporting methods the person is taught to overcome his panic and anxiety. Relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation too can help in overcoming anxiety.
