What should be added to $5 \frac{4}{15} $ to get $12 \frac{3}{5}$?

To do: Find the number which when added to $5 \frac{4}{15} $ gives $12 \frac{3}{5}$

  Solution:

 $5 \frac{4}{15} $ to get $12 \frac{3}{5}$

Let the number be$x$

then $x + 5 \frac{4}{15} = 12 \frac{3}{5}$

$x + \frac{79}{15} = \frac{63}{5}$

$x = \frac{63}{5} - \frac{79}{15}$

= $\frac{63\times3}{5\times3} - \frac{79}{15}$

= $\frac{189}{15} - \frac{79}{15}$

= $\frac{189 - 79}{15}$

= $\frac{110}{15}$

$x = \frac{22}{3}$

$x= 7 \frac{1}{3}$

Therefore, 7 should be added $5 \frac{4}{15} $ to to get  $12 \frac{3}{5}$
