What is transportation?

In terms of biology, transportation in plants refers to the transport of water and solutes within the plant. Transportation takes place by two different types of vascular tissues such as Xylem and Phloem.

The xylem transports water and soluble mineral nutrients from root to the leaves.

The phloem transports food prepared by leaves in the form of solutes to the roots and all other growing parts of the plant.
