What is exocytosis?


Exocytosis is an energy-dependant transport process or active transport process where a cell transports molecules or materials out of the cell with the expenditure of energy currency or ATPs.

For example: In the human body, exocytosis takes place for the secretion of proteins like enzymes, peptide hormones and antibodies from cells, and transport of integral membrane proteins that are attached to the cells.
