What is Endocytosis?

Endocytosis is a cellular process in which substances such as large molecules, parts of cells, and even whole cells are brought actively into the cell by engulfing it with its membrane.

This process is also used by white blood cells to ingest bacteria or viruses and then digest them in their lysosomes

It is used by all cells to transport molecules that cannot pass through the membrane passively.
