What is Drought?


A drought is an event of prolonged shortages in the water supply or lack or insufficiency of rain for an extended period of time.

It causes a considerable water imbalance and, consequently, water shortages, crop damage, streamflow reduction, and depletion of groundwater and soil moisture.

 

There are four basic types of droughts:

1. Permanent Drought.

2. Seasonal Drought.

3. Unpredictable Drought.

4. Invisible Drought.
